Whether you’re looking for a solo photoshoot or a memorable experience with a partner(s) the process is very similar.

I use a therapeutic approach to photography, meaning that we will use this time together to not only have fun and explore pleasure and intimacy, but will also hold space for the murky, hard, nuanced, and complicated things that this work can bring up.

This was a fantastic, unique way to celebrate the love my partner and I share. While I was nervous and hesitant at the idea, Julia’s process not only completely settled my discomforts, I ended up having a fantastic time. Highly recommend!

Common Questions

Q: What is boudoir?
A: Boudoir photography, to me, is a medium in which we can have our most treasured and beautiful vulnerabilities seen and witnessed. It is a space for empowerment and honesty, an opportunity to heal and reconnect.

Q: What is trauma sensitive boudoir?
A: Many of us have experienced acute and/or ongoing trauma that affects our sexuality and intimate lives. Trauma sensitive boudoir allows for our full narratives to be present, including the nuanced and complicated parts. Practically speaking, being trauma sensitive means that I will be transparent in my work, prioritize and center consent, and aim to affirm your experience and identity through my language and actions.

Q: Do you offer sliding scale or payment plans?
A: Yes! It is a long term goal to make this work sustainable for myself and regenerative for my community. Please reach out with your needs, if I don’t offer something accessible to you yet, know that I am working to make it possible in the near future.

Q: What do I wear?
A: Wear anything that makes you feel empowered. I've had folks feel best in lingerie, undies and a tee, a partner’s shirt/clothes, in their birthday suit, etc. Really, anything goes! Bring options, we, generally, have time to photograph 2 or 3 different looks (if you’d like I can help you choose).

Q: When are you available?
A: I am available for photoshoots 7 days a week with enough notice. Email me and we will find a unique time that works for you.

Q: What is partner boudoir?
A: Partner boudoir celebrates your love, sensuality, and the sacred connection between lovers / friends / self. This is a space for you to explore the radical act of being seen and witnessed in your love and sexuality.

Q: What lenses do you bring to your work?
A: I am a queer white cis woman who is in a life long practice of learning and unlearning the ways in which white body supremacy, fatphobioa, homophobia, capitalism, and the male gaze have woven into my conscious and subconscious.

Q: Will you share the images?
A: I will only share the images with your explicit consent. You will have the opportunity to select which images I can share after I’ve delivered them.

Q: When will I receive the images?
A: The general turnaround time is 4-6 weeks after our photoshoot.

Q: How do I pose?
A: Don’t worry, I will help! I will give prompts, suggestions, and encouragement throughout! We will find shapes that feel empowering and sexy to you. What I recommend is that you start paying attention to when you feel empowered in your body. Maybe it would be fun to pose in the mirror? Practice shapes with your partner(s)? Film yourself and watch your sexiness!

Q: Where does the photoshoot take place?
A: Photoshoots take place in your home, photo studios, rental homes, and hotels in and around Seattle, WA. Not in Seattle? I am available to travel outside of WA state with additional fees.

“I loved so many of the photos Julia created of me and get a little thrill whenever I look at them. Honestly though, the experience was the best part. Not only did I have a great time with Julia- she is hilarious, creative, and a joy to watch work-I felt great in my own skin, sexy, and empowered. It’s a life-long process as a woman to see and trust your own beauty. Julia offers a lovely experience to care for and honor yourself and your strength.”

Shooting with Julia was such a comforting, care filled experience. Everything was thought of to make me feel the most peaceful, while simultaneously excited to look and feel sexy. The music, the location, Julia’s constant words of affirmation were enough to make me wish the shoot was three times longer! Such a magical experience, I couldn’t recommend it more! ❤️❤️

If you are looking for a boudoir shoot that will truly speak to the vulnerability, rawness, and tenderness of your soul, Julia IS your person. Sometimes, boudoir shoots are performative space of play. And that is fine and equally lovely! But what I experienced in our session was a true opening and revealing of the queer identity I have often suppressed and repressed, which was very emotional for me. And needed. Art is moving, and I felt that in finding space to share myself within our shoot.
